I did finally get the hard drive from the old machine backed up and then installed into the new computer as a second drive.
I plugged all the devices back it - printer, webcam, flatbed scanner, etc. Windows 8 recognized everything except the scanner. And the Manufacture's website does not have an updated driver for this particular scanner. So, I had to buy a new one. But the one I got will be faster and better quality. And it has nicer software included. I will probably get it hooked up sometime tomorrow. And I have 4 more "essential" programs to install.
I've also been configuring the Windows 8 Start screen to make it easier to navigate. I find I actually switch between it and the desktop mode depending on what I want to do.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with the new machine. I still have to test the turntable and my mixer, but they shouldn't be a problem.
